A student exchange

Exploring the world one step at a time

Does being away from home, alone in a strange country, with only little to intermediate knowledge of the language seem intimidating? But you still want to make progress? Maybe a student exchange would be right up your alley!

They are usually organized by the school or university – at our school, the 9th graders learning French get the chance to visit Vichy this way. This is great, as you can be with your friends, and still get the real deal. We would absolutely recommend! If you want some more information, and if you are interested in hearing about someone else’s experiences, here are two podcasts you should listen to:

In this short podcast, you will get some interesting information from Charline, a student from France. She already took part in an exchange twice, and is giving a small interview with Leonie here.

In this second podcast, Justin interviews his exchange student, Hellen, who spent her exchange year in Manchester.

Hopefully, we were able to arouse your interest after hearing these two tell their stories. If that is the case, have a look at this list comparing different companies, which, among other programs, offer student exchanges: Auslandsaufenthalt

By the way, it is important that you enjoy traveling, and that you are willing to improve your language skills. Maybe there are people in your circle of friends who have already done an exchange. Ask them and let them tell you about their experiences.
